Welcome to PHYS 321 (Spring 2021), the first of a three-quarter sequence of electromagnetism for advanced undergraduates. I hope you find this course challenging and enjoyable. The topic of electromagnetism is fundamental through all the natural sciences and is also crucial in modern technology. We will closely follow Griffiths' text "Introduction to Electrodynamics". If you are interested in more advanced treatments of certain topics, use the graduate-level text "Classical Electrodynamics" by Jackson.
For information about texts, tutorials, and grading, see COURSE INFORMATION (which is also on the "Pages" link).
For useful links and latest news on particle physics see USEFUL LINKS & IN THE NEWS. Please email suggestions.
Here is the tentative schedule. Reading for each lecture is noted---class quizzes will assume this readings. HW assignments will be due on Saturdays at 10:00PM, electronically.
