PAT C-421

SUBMET is an experiment at J-PARC aiming to detect particles with tiny electric charge. The detector is composed of two layers of scintillator stacks. Using beam-timing and requiring a coincidence between the layers allow significant background reduction and provide sensitivity to Q<10^-3e, the region largely unexplored yet. The experiment received the final approval from J-PARC this summer. Introduction to the experiment as well as the status and plan will be discussed.

Bio:

Jae Hyeok Yoo is an Associate Professor of Physics at Korea University working on the CMS experiment at CERN and SUBMET at J-PARC. He received his PhD from UC San Diego, contributing to the discovery of and study about the Higgs boson in the WW channel in CMS. As a postdoc at UC Santa Barbara, he worked on SUSY searches in CMS and the demonstrator of the milliQan experiment.
