Hamiltonian simulation of lattice gauge theories in varying dimensions, volumes, and truncations provides valuable developmental milestones for quantum computation. I will discuss quantum simulations of pure $SU(3)$ gauge theory in two and three spatial dimensions, developing time evolution circuits, general tools for optimizing circuit depth, and ground state preparation.
