2023 Physics Department Graduation Ceremony

Department of Physics 2022-23 Graduating Class and Department Members

For UW students graduating between summer 2022 – summer 2023 with their Physics bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees, we invite you to participate in the Physics Department in-person graduation recognition celebration.

Cap and gown are optional for the Physics Departmental Graduation Ceremony.  You may reserve your cap and gown and also parking to attend the Physics Department Graduation Ceremony through the UW Commencement registration form ( which will be open between May 3-21, 2023.

Those who are interested in the campus-wide ceremony at Husky Stadium, please visit the UW Commencement website for schedule details for the stadium event, cap and gown orders (required if you attend the Husky Stadium ceremony), parking, tickets (to the Husky Stadium ceremony), and registration to participate.  The campus-wide ceremony at Husky Stadium opens their doors at 12:30pm with the procession at 1:30pm—It is possible for you to attend both the Physics event and this if you choose!

Doors open 9:30 AM. If you arrive before our event begins, you may locate your seats in the appropriate auditorium (signage will be posted to direct you).


9:45 AM: Gather for group photo by “the Peanut” before our celebration begins.

PAA 102: All PhD and PMSP students. Undergraduates with last names A-K

9:55 AM: Students and guests are seated in designated room

10:00 AM: Opening remarks by Professor Laurence Yaffe

10:05 AM: Presentation of PhD and PMSP graduates

10:15 AM: Presentation of undergraduate students (A-K)

11:15 AM: Final Congratulations!

PAA 118: Undergraduates with last names L-Z and late-RSVP students

9:55 AM: Students and guests are seated in designated room

10:00 AM: Opening remarks by Professor Marjorie Olmstead

10:05 AM: Presentation of undergraduate students and late-RSVP students

11:15 AM: Final Congratulations! 


11:15 AM: Please enjoy a casual reception of coffee, juice and donuts in Mark N. McDermott Plaza. The Husky Stadium ceremony opens at 12.30 PM with the procession at 1:30 PM for those who will participate.
