Dissecting microbial growth at multiple scales, from atoms to cells

Kerwyn C Huang, Stanford University
Monday, May 13, 2019 - 4:00pm
PAA 102

Growth is a complex process, requiring the coordination of many cellular processes. In this talk, I will discuss two key aspects of how cells achieve homeostasis during growth: (1) how cytoskeletal polymers regulate their length and orientation through an energetic balance between filament twisting and membrane binding, and (2) how increases in intracellular density can power superfast expansion to re-establish the proper density.

Watch a recording of the talk here (sorry, no slides).
