2018 Nobel Prize mini-symposium: "groundbreaking inventions in the field of laser physics"

Qi Zhang, Paul Wiggins and Chip Asbury, University of Washington
Monday, October 8, 2018 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm
PAA A-102

Join us to celebrate this year's Nobel Prize, awarded jointly to Arthur Ashkin “for the optical tweezers and their application to biological systems” and to Gerard Mourou and Donna Strickland "for their method of generating high-intensity, ultra-short optical pulses”.

  • Qi Zhang (UW Physics) will tell us about amplification of ultrafast laser pulses
  • Paul Wiggins (UW Physics and Bioengineering) and Chip Asbury (UW Physiology and Biophysics) will tell us about optical tweezers
