Postdoctoral Scholar – Institute for Nuclear Theory

Position Description

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Institute for Nuclear Theory (INT), on the University of Washington campus, invites applications for one or more Postdoctoral Scholar positions starting in Autumn 2021.
The INT’s local research interests include QCD, lattice gauge theory, quantum computing, many-body theory, nuclear astrophysics, effective field theory, weak interactions and symmetries, relativistic heavy ion physics, high energy nuclear physics, and nuclear structure.  The Institute hosts approximately 450 visiting scientists each year, representing all areas of nuclear physics as well as its intersections with neighboring subfields.  For further information about the INT see: https://sites.google.com/uw.edu/int/home

Postdoctoral Scholars also hold appointments within the Physics Department, with which the INT is affiliated. These are full-time, 12-month appointments; they are for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year, subject to funding and mutual agreement.  The Postdoctoral Scholar title is limited to five years, including postdoctoral experience(s) at UW and other institutions.

Postdoctoral Scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. For more information, please visit the University of Washington Labor Relations website.
