Congratulations to the UW Physics Muon g-2 team for receiving the 2026 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, recognizing their experimental work on precisely measuring the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, which tests the standard model of particle physics. The Breakthrough Prizes are sometimes called the Oscars of Science. The $3M award is being divided equally between all members from the Brookhaven National Lab and Fermilab experiments. Our UW team had 17 members listed, including 7 PhD students, listed below:
